In this section of this series of articles I am going to explore the key components to a successful list building campaign. However, let us first look at the main reason why you should build a list. List building is primarily done to get repeat traffic to your web site. Advertising or getting free traffic is hard work and you need to capitalize on your visitors so that you can market to them over and over again.
Let us look at the very first key component that you need to do to start your list building process. You need to create a name squeeze page. This web page will have a headline and a few bullet points stating the benefit of joining your newsletter or downloading a free report. The primary objective of this web page is to capture a name and email address so that you can get repeat traffic from the visitors who fill in their details on your squeeze page.
The second important step is that you need to setup your autoresponder. This consists mainly of preloading your autoresponder messages so that you can follow up with your prospects automatically. Usually a prospect will only respond to your offer after the seventh email contact. You can also use your autoresponder to send out a monthly or weekly newsletter.
The third step is that you need to track your list building efforts. Usually only ten percent of the advertising or marketing that you do will bring results. So once you find what actually works to build your list you need to concentrate on that. You can use a free tracking tool like Google Analytics or if you are doing a lot of paid advertising I suggest you use Hypertracker.
